SPAR was created out of the need for a simple way to document choreography without breaking flow. As performers, we found it frustrating to swap a sword for a clipboard or laptop every few moves just to take notes. We wanted something that could be used one-handed, even on a phone, while holding a weapon in the other hand.
This tool is the result — fast, repeatable, consistent, and designed specifically for the unique demands of stunt performance and fight choreography.
SPAR is designed to choreograph, document, and archive fight sequences, covering footwork, weapon choreography, direction of energy, and stage direction. It provides a clean, structured way to record complex custom choreography while remaining easy enough to use during live rehearsals.
SPAR is best suited for documenting staged fight choreography between 2–5 combatants.
The fight spreadsheet is divided into structured columns. Here’s what each area represents:
Example layout of the SPAR spreadsheet.
Use Add Row to continue adding choreography steps. Use Add Break to insert a shaded divider row (for dialogue, beat breaks, or blocks of choreography).
Click Export to save your fight as an Excel (.xlsx) file. The default filename comes from your fight title, but you can rename it before saving.
SPAR does not save your work automatically. Closing or refreshing the page will clear your choreography. Save early, save often!
If you encounter issues, have suggestions, or simply want to share how you use SPAR, please fill out the Feedback Form or email us at thebrothersbarbeau@gmail.com.
SPAR was built by and for our stunt team, but we’re happy to share it with anyone. If it makes your training smoother, we’d love to hear about it! Kind words, feedback, or even stories of how you use SPAR are always welcome.
Building, maintaining, and hosting SPAR takes time and resources, so if your team benefits from it, we welcome donations — but encouragement and stories of how you’ve used it are just as valuable.
Every team trains differently. If you’d like a version of SPAR tailored to your own workflow, reach out — we’re open to collaborating on custom builds.
SPAR is a training tool, not a substitute for judgment or supervision. Only practice, rehearse, or perform at the level you’re comfortable with. Our team isn’t responsible for injuries, accidents, or outcomes that may occur while using SPAR.
By using the app, you understand there’s no guarantee of privacy; materials created in SPAR are considered part of BB Stunts’ shared training resources.
